The name of this pattern is actually Angharad the Donkey and is available from TOFT as part of Edward’s menagerie. However, the donkey I’ve crocheted looks more like a Gary to me.
The patterns in Edward’s menagerie are all very similar and result in several gorgeous amigurumi animals. The patterns are quite straight forward to crochet; that said I’m pleased I’m relatively experienced as a few elements of the pattern I had to extrapolate using past experience such as Gary’s facial features.
I used honeycomb stitch and my tunisian hook to make the scarf. I think it just finishes him off nicely giving him a bit of colour.
I like donkeys they are one of my favourite animals. Gary reminds me of a visiting a Donkey Sanctuary on the Isle of Wight a few years ago. Entry was free and we spent hours there watching the residents strolling in the sunshine and rolling on their backs (I didn’t know they did that). They were so happy and so well looked after. 🙂
I must admit at first I was a little confused. Where is the thick blanket of cloud that has been with us for months?
I can see the Sun! Better still, with very little breeze it’s really quite peasant out.
We’re heading over to see our friends’ new house and meet their new addition Garfield (pusscat). It would be rude to arrive empty handed so I’ve made him a toy that is stuffed FULL with catnip 🙂
It was great fun trying to crochet the ball closed whist fensing off our cats.
Finally, the sheep I was making (from issue 13 of Simply Crochet) is finished. I’m really pleased with him and love the way the surface crochet has created his fleece.
Just a quick post to show the fleece I’ve started to put on the sheep.
I’m crocheting the white snowflake yarn on to the surface of the sheep using single crochets and chains. It feels lovely and looks like a little skirt 🙂
There are projects that I want to start. But I shouldn’t.
He sits there in the bag looking sad and forgotten. He feels incomplete like something missing! Poor bear!
Today I’m starting his arms, well crocheting the motifs I need. In all honesty I don’t know why he’s taken so long… I think it might be organising all the parts.
Anyhow, bear will be happy things are moving again 🙂
