Awesome crochet

image

I’m going to have to have a go at hyperbolic crochet. There are some amazing examples on pinterest of how how mathematical principles can  modelled through crochet.

Maybe I could create a sort of mobile for a Baby or a hanging sculpture.

This page is full of beautiful hyperbolic crochet from Gabriele Meyers – http://pinterest.com/pin/448741550341775514/

  1. I bought the book ‘A Field Guide to Hyperbolic Space’ earlier in the year – it makes fascinating reading and includes a gallery of the crochet models, but nowhere near as complex as the ones on your link. I wonder how they hold their shape so well. I notice the yarn used is ‘polyester’ so it might be inherently stiff, or do you think they are wired?
My eco-bath puffs are a simple type of hyperbolic crochet (http://thesnailofhappiness.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/imgp0537.jpg)

  2. looking forward to seeing how yours turn out. I am not that ambitious yet 😉

  3. That is just beautiful. What a great idea, I look forward to seeing how it works out for you. 🙂
